PROGRAMME STRUCTURE MSC IN SMNR
The aim of the masters of science programme in SMNR is to educate Masters of Science students in Sustainable Management of Natural Resources at the Anton de Kom University of Suriname (AdeKUS) and to increase the academic standards of research and services to society in the domains of SMNR at AdeKUS.

Research themes
The following projects related to SMNR are being conducted at AdeKUS of which some are also supported by VLIR-AdeKUS-IUC.
1.Master education and research programme on sustainable management of natural resources
2.Development of a Suriname Water Resources Information System (SWRIS)
3.Management of water resources in north-west Suriname under climate change conditions
4.Comprehensive Water Management Pilot Project
5.Development of modelling tools in decision support instruments for coastal zone management

PhD opportunities
The SMNR programme provides a good environment to undertake postgraduate research leading to a PhD. PhD opportunities are offered in the following themes: land and water management, renewable energy, mineral resources, biodiversity, sustainable agriculture, sustainable forestry, and natural products. Calls for PhD research and PhD scholarships are regular posted on the Moodle site. PhD topics and PhD students are listed in MOODLE.
